Who we are
Star Quiz (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is published by QuizRift. You can reach us at kanatanorthdev@gmail.com. Star Quiz is a trivia/quiz game intended for users aged 13 and over; it is not directed to children under 13.
The short version
We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name, email or contacts to play the game. To run the app, show ads and fix crashes, we use a few industry-standard services (Google AdMob, Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics) that process limited, mostly anonymous data such as an advertising identifier and crash diagnostics. If you join our launch mailing list on this website, we only use your email to tell you when the app is available.
What we collect and why
- Game progress & settings — your level progress, stars, streak, chosen avatar, display name, language and toggles. Stored on your device and not tied to a real-world identity.
- Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) — anonymous, aggregated usage events plus an app-instance identifier, to understand engagement and improve the game.
- Crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics) — crash traces and device/OS information to fix stability problems.
- Advertising (Google AdMob) — to show ads, AdMob may process your device's advertising identifier and limited device data. With your consent, ads may be personalised; without it, you still see non-personalised ads.
- Content & images (Cloudflare) — when online, the app may download updated question packs and images; these requests include standard technical data (such as an IP address) handled by our hosting/CDN provider.
- Mailing list (this website only) — if you submit the “Notify me” form, your email is sent to our form provider (Formspree) and used solely to email you about the launch.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or health data.
Consent for ads
Before requesting personalised ads, we present Google's consent flow (UMP) where required (for example, in the EEA and UK) and, on iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change ad personalisation later in your device settings.
Third parties
We share data only with service providers that help us operate Star Quiz: Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics), Cloudflare (content/CDN and website hosting) and Formspree (website mailing-list form). Their handling is governed by their own policies: Google, Cloudflare, Formspree.
Data retention & deletion
On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app or use Settings → Reset progress. Analytics and crash data are retained per Google's defaults. To request deletion of any data associated with your device or advertising identifier — or to be removed from our mailing list — contact kanatanorthdev@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
The app is rated for ages 13+ and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
